Five Characteristics of a Saved Person

Five characteristics of saved people.

1. A Saved Person is After the Spirit— Rom 8:5-6

a. Remember, a person who is “after,” (according to) the flesh is one dominated by the flesh.
(1) In attitude, in beliefs, in actions, the lost person takes after the flesh, not after righteousness.
(2) This fleshly demeanor can be high-brow, even religious after a fashion, but the lost person is dominated by fleshly, worldly concerns and ways.

b. So, one “after,” (according to) the Spirit is one dominated by the Spirit of God—A spiritual person will be different.
(1) The Spiritual man walks according to the Spirit—This happens because of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and it is obvious through conduct— Rom 8:4, Ezek 36:27 ""I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them."

(2) A truly spiritual person is sensitive to, and places importance in, Truth. John 16:13, 1 John 4:6, John 14:17,
(3) A Spiritual person has the “witness of the Spirit”

(a) The Spirit witnesses to us that we are His children—Rom 8:16 , Gal 4:6 , 1 John 4:13 "By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit."
(b) The Spirit Guides us in ministry—Acts 13:2 "As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."
(c) The True believer has an inkling when something is “just not right.”

2. A Saved Person Minds the Spirit— Rom 8:5-6

g. The True Christian does not say: “I hope my relationship with God does not cause me difficulty with people around me.”

h. The True believer’s heart concern is: “Will the people around me affect my relationship with God?”
